Runa, as she's known by her family and friends, is the youngest of five sisters and the only one who has yet to be married. Family is the most important thing in her world, everything she knowns revolves around it. She lost her mother in her teenage years, and though it left a painful hole in their lives the Nyströms' loving closeness ensured that each of them continued to live their lives to the fullest safe in the knowledge that they would always have each other. As her sisters have married and become mothers, Ingirun is more than ready for her turn to enter the life of a wife and mother. There is nothing she'd like more, even if her suitors do have to endure the scrutiny of her father and sisters.

The Nyströms have always lived in relative wealth but their general lack of ambition means they haven't indulged in the excess of other upper class families. It also means that they have gone reasonably unnoticed by most magical families. Their magic is old and subtle which results in it being regularly overlooked by modern mages seeking large, flashy displays of power. However in this most recent generation of Nyströms their capabilities seem to have amplified significantly. Whether it is caused by genetics or divine blessing is still a matter of debate for those outside the family.

Volur are female witches, shamans and seers of Norse religion. The goddess Freyja was the most skilled in magic and the Volur sought to imitate her craft. As time passed and volur slipped into the shadows to avoid persecution, their talents became easily overlooked and rationalised away. As a völva focused on family life, Ingirun is incredibly well versed in keeping her home and family safe, happy and prosperous. Really, what more could anyone want?
